kay, Ari but why the fairies??

First, why question it? enjoy the fleeting mysticism!

Second, angry feminist fairy memes have been giving me life like no other, so I felt the need to share this with whoever looks through this catalogue so we can be in some form of the same headspace when searching through the clutter.

I'm Ari btw, a queer, Jewish, South African witch, raised by other queer, Jewish, South African witches. Due to this contextual upbringing as well as my born distrust, all of my work has socio-political and intersectional elements. My work is influenced a lot by Black queer theory and, by default, intersectional feminism. I use these elements to understand and transcribe moments and emotions of and from my personal experiences in order to deconstruct the colonial systems that take over our daily lives.

Welcome to the girls and the gays and the theys, welcome to the Catatonic Catalogue, our very own virtual fairy forest.

On a final note, regarding my choice in practices within the WdKA, I have decided to choose Autonomous Practice and the Honours Programme. I struggled to decide between Autonomous and Social but in the end, I was more intrigued by the specific subjects available within the Autonomous program. I decided on the Honours Programme by looking at past projects and I really loved the themes incorporated in the past works. This programme also makes a lot of sense to me as it can potentially double as a pre-masters which works in my favour as I plan to pursue a masters in art therapy (somewhere warmer this time!).
